Top Ten Tuesday: "Gateway" Books/Authors In My Reading Journey

This is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week bloggers share a list of books for the prompt given. So hopefully I'll have a new list to share with you all each week!

This Week's Topic: Top Ten "Gateway" Books/Authors In My Reading Journey

Hmmm, what books made me branch out from the fluffy romances I was always reading in middle school? Haha, I think I read, like, 15 of those Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies in a row one year. They were so addicting! But I finally did manage to venture into other genres thanks to some pretty awesome reads. Let me break it up by genre…

Dystopian
1. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
2. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Classic Literature
3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
4. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Chick-Lit (Adult)
5. Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella
6. Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
7. The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

Paranormal/Vampires
8. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
9. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
10. Glass Houses by Rachel Caine

  4. Awesome list!! I had a terrible time with this week's topic, so I only did a top 3. I haven't read any of the Shopaholic books, but I loved Kinsella's I've Got Your Number. I also Liked Something Borrowed and Something Blue.

I listed Twilight this week and I am currently hooked on the Vampire Academy series.
