Release Day Promo + Review: Yard Sale by Charleigh Rose

Title: Yard Sale
Author: Charleigh Rose
Genre: New Adult Romance (novella)
Release Date: July 26, 2018

I was freshly fired from my job and betrayed by my boyfriend.
It was a new low for me.
A one-night stand with an arrogant stranger was just what I needed.
I didn’t know that he was a famous snowboarder, or that he’d give me the best sex of my life.
I wasn’t ever supposed to see him again.
Fate had other plans.
I was young and rich with the whole world at my fingertips.
I was in my prime.
A one-night stand with a hot little tourist on the rebound was the perfect way to spend my weekend.
I didn’t know she’d leave in the middle of the night, or that I’d wake up wanting more.
I never thought I’d see her again.
Now she’s back.
She’s been keeping a secret.
One that will change everything.

Charleigh Rose has easily become one of my favorite authors and I can always count on her books to bring angst and a whole lot of steam. I am happy to report that Yard Sale, though a novella, managed to bring plenty of both!

After losing her job and her fake boyfriend, Mollie needs something to take her mind off of her failing life. And one night with a bad boy is just what she needs. She was never supposed to see him again. Unfortunately, Mollie has a secret that Cam, the snowboarding bad boy she hooked up with, is bound to uncover. And that secret will connect them forever.

Right from the start, this novella brought the heat between Cam and Mollie. I loved how insistent Cam was and how he would not take no for an answer from Mollie. Their banter was so fun and things definitely heated up between those two!

I will say, during the time jump, it was a little hard to believe the emotions Cam and Mollie felt for one another had progressed that quickly in such a short amount of time that they knew each other. This is a novella, so things do progress quicker than they do in normal novels, but I think that the emotional level of their relationship progressed too fast for my liking.

Overall, this was a hot and fun novella that had everything I love about Charleigh Rose's writing. I loved the setting at a ski resort and how complex these characters became in such a short amount of time. When I was done, I was only left wanting more!

With the perfect mix of angst, emotional romance, and romantic comedy, the Palm South University series is your next guilty addiction.

About the Author

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Where the sun is hot and the clothes are scarce, anything can happen.

I devoured this entire series last year, so it feels like I have been waiting forever for this newest installment! It's so easy to binge this whole series, so I couldn't wait to devour season four as soon as it came out and see what was going on with my favorite cast of characters!

With Spring semester starting, the PSU gang is ready for more relationship drama and the ultimate test of friendships that were supposed to be indestructible.

Right before this came out, I read PSU 3 and Black Number Four. When I started Legacy, I found out that this book follows the exact storyline to Black Number Four, which is solely focused on Skyler and Kip's perspectives. That being said, I found myself not as excited as I got more into this book because I already knew the whole storyline. We do get to see a lot of the other characters that we didn't get in the other book, but I think we got too much Skyler and not enough of a unique plot-line for the other characters I loved, like Bear or Erin. Everyone's stories except a few seemed to largely revolve around the main story of Black Number Four (revolving around Skyler's drama), making it not as interesting to read.

Don't get me wrong, I still loved seeing my favorite characters and watching how they were doing through all of the drama that is always present in their lives. I really loved how not one character was perfect or had it all figured out. Just like the previous three books, this book thrived on drama and put every single character through the test.

Overall, I was so happy to be back home in PSU with Legacy. I got to see my favorite characters and, while some characters still annoyed me, seeing their perspective really made me understand them. If you want a drama-filled college series that is the perfect thing to binge, you HAVE to pick up the PSU series!

Book Review: Want You by Jen Frederick

Want You
by Jen Frederick
Release Date: July 1, 2018
Source: Author
Bitsy: I might be only nineteen, but I know what I want. It’s Leka Moore. I don’t care that he took me in when he was barely more than a kid himself. I don’t care that he raised me. I don’t care everyone thinks being with him is wrong. I know we belong together, and the only person I need to convince is him.

Leka: I found her in the corner of a dark alley. If I hadn’t taken her with me, she would’ve died that night—or maybe worse. Before I knew it, she became the light in my dark life, the haven from the madness. I watched her grow up. I tried to teach her right from wrong. Now that she’s an adult, I’m feeling things that no good man should ever feel. But then…I’ve never been a good man. I have a chance at redemption by saving her from the greatest danger of all—me.

I've got to say, when I first read the synopsis of this book, I was pretty wary. I am super picky when it comes to age gap books, but I love Jen Frederick's books that she writes with Elle Kennedy as Erin Watt, so I was willing to give this one a chance!

Leka Moore has been on his own for as long as he can remember. In order to take care of himself, though, he's had to do some pretty bad things for some pretty bad people. The only light in his life is Bitsy, the little girl he saved and took under his wing. The little girl who isn't so little anymore. Bitsy is now 19 and she knows what she wants. The only man she's ever loved her whole life. Leka.

This book was interesting because it starts out with Leka finding Bitsy and taking care of her, so both of them are super young and are only concerned with surviving. I really liked this because it didn't feel creepy, then, when Leka saw Bitsy in a more romantic way later on. Yeah, he's older, but he's well aware of his attraction for her and she really isn't all that much younger than him when she's 19. They haven't seen each other in years, which I also felt made their relationship a bit more okay and believable in my eyes.

I was surprised how dark this book ended up being, especially pertaining to Leka's job. This book is really more of a mafia/mob romance and a lot of decisions Leka makes are to make sure that Bitsy is safe, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness. I will warn you, this book is super dark and these characters see some pretty gruesome things.

While the beginning is sort of slow because the world and relationship dynamic between Leka and Bitsy is being set up, I really enjoyed this story. Jen Frederick isn't afraid to go to the dark places and I think that if you like mafia romances with a forbidden twist, you'll enjoy Want You.

Cover Reveal: Love Online by Penelope Ward

A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel

By: NY Times, USA To-day, and #1 Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Penelope Ward
RELEASE DATE: Monday, August 27, 2018

Synopsis: From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy STANDALONE novel. We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod” and she was “Montana,” but of course, those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind. Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape—my sanctuary. Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out. From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed. She was an addiction. At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities…and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise. Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous—everything I’d ever wanted in a woman. But I couldn’t really have her. I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were—until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her. So I took a chance. And that was when our love story really began.
