Evangeline Thorne is privileged.
Beautiful and popular, if not a little jaded.
A chance encounter with a green-eyed stuntman sets off a chain of events that turns her perfect, little world upside down.
Short on options and desperate for adventure, she joins the traveling carnival for the summer.
Thrust into a world full of drama, deception, and secrecy, Evangeline tries to find herself and protect her heart in the process.

Sebastian McAllister is cursed.
He knows better than to think otherwise.
He’s content to live out the rest of his life traveling the country as one of the four Sons of Eastlake, seeking thrills the only way he knows how.
The one thing he doesn’t see coming is the spoiled blond with stars in her eyes.
The only problem is, the more time he spends with her, the more hope starts to stir in his dormant heart.
Too bad hope is a dangerous thing when you’re a McAllister.

Words can't even begin to describe how much I've been anticipating this book. I love every book Charleigh Rose writes and I couldn't wait to read one that took place at a carnival!

The night Evan Thorne met Sebastian MacAllister completely changed the course of her life. From being the good girl who always listened to her parents, Evan has become a hard shell of who she once was. When things get too hard to handle at home, Evan decides to turn to the only person she wants to be around anymore: Sebastian. Sebastian, though, is cursed and will push away anyone who comes too close to him. Living on the road as one of the Sons of Eastlake, Sebastian will do anything to keep his promise to his family, which becomes much harder with Evan crawling under his skin and into his heart.

From the very first chapter, I was LIVING for the angst in this book. I loved how mysterious Sebastian and his life was and how alluring it was to Evan. With each fast-foward in the beginning, I loved the forbidden nature of their feelings and the anticipation of Sebastian and Evan finally giving into their intense bond with one another.

The whole atmosphere of this novel was definitely one of my favorite parts of reading Evan's story. When Evan runs off with the carnival, I loved the close space she shared with Sebastian and his family, which made it harder for them to ignore their insane chemistry. I loved the danger that was a part of Sebastian's everyday life and how much Evan found herself living out of her comfort zone. I could not put this book down and devoured Evan and Sebastian's intense romance.

Rewrite the Stars is one of my new favorite romances from Charleigh Rose and had everything I love, from angst to a brooding hero who tried everything to push the heroine away. I was obsessed with this romance and a
m so sad it went by so fast! For a unique and addicting read, you have to pick up Rewrite the Stars!

Series: Devil's Night Series
Genre: Erotic Suspense
Author: Penelope Douglas
Release Date: February 11, 2019

Synopsis:

WINTER
Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was.
But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan.
And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this.
He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.

DAMON
First thing's first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.
Step two… Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor.
But that's not what's coming.
No, it's time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It's time I showed them all-my family, her family, my friends-that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.
Starting with her.
She'll be so scared, she won't even be safe in her own head by the time I'm done with her. And the best part is I won't have to break into her home to do it.
As the new man of the house I have all the keys.

Book Review: Fight or Flight by Samantha Young

Fight or Flight
by Samantha Young
Release Date: October 9, 2018
Source: Publisher
A series of chance encounters leads to a sizzling new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn't hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava's ever had. And that's all it was--until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb's orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he's stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart's in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she's made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn't quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her....

Samantha Young is an auto-buy author for me, and when I saw that she had a new romance about a brooding Scotsman, I was DYING to get my hands on this. I was ready for a fun romance and that's exactly what I got!

All Ava Breevort wants to do is get home and leave the disaster of a trip behind her. But when an infuriating Scotsman named Caleb Scott does everything he can to ruin her return home, Ava will not take it any more. Their bickering turns into one steamy layover, though, Ava is determined to forget about the man who drives her insane but who clicked with her like no one ever has. That's hard, though, when Caleb shows up in Boston for a more permanent stay. Ava doesn't want to lose Caleb from her life, but she doesn't know what to do when the boundaries start to blur...

From the very beginning of this book, I had a huge grin on my face while I watched Ava and Caleb absolutely detest each other. I loved their bickering and how brooding Caleb was. Ava was just such a fun character and I loved the entire time they met and danced around each other when they first met.

Just like any romance where the main characters try to keep things casual, things got very dicey when real feelings started to become involved. I really enjoyed how insecure Ava felt and how they both tried to deal with their feelings when they had agreed to never have those for one another. We got to understand the characters' background stories as they got to know each other and I really enjoyed seeing those tender, vulnerable moments between them along with the fun, light-hearted moments.

Fight or Flight is easily one of my favorite books I have read this year. I needed a fun romance at the time that I read this and that is exactly what this was. I'm ready to hop on a plane and find myself a infuriating, but also caring and sweet Scotsman of my own!

Blurb

The issue with bad boys? I’m not one—but I’m not about to put a stop to the rumors. My taste for fast cars, late nights, and beautiful women helped get me to the top of a leading New York magazine known for its tongue-in-cheek humor and over-the-top masculinity. But after an industry exposé maligns me as a womanizer, the reputation that made me is suddenly threatening to end my career. Damage control comes in the form of a pretty, pint-sized “fixer,” but from the moment I meet Georgina Keller, I can’t help thinking she’s eager to land the final blow—and maybe even my job.

The issue with bad boys? They run right over good girls like me. But after a confidence-shattering breakup, I’m determined not to let anyone at my new workplace push me around—not even the brooding Sebastian Quinn, who’s made it clear I’m the enemy. I’m ready to help Modern Man shed its bad reputation, but to do that, I’ll have to start at the top . . . and no amount of rakish charm or inconvenient attraction is going to distract me.

Because it’s true what they say—there’s a thin line between love and hate.
And it cuts right through the middle of our office.

Book Review: The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner

The Wrong Game
by Kandi Steiner
Release Date: October 18, 2018
Source: Author
Two season tickets.
One genius idea.
Zero interest in a relationship.

The plan is simple: a brand new, hot, preferably funny, definitely single male will fill one of those seats for every Bears game at Soldier Field. And I’ll fill the other.

I can’t think of a better way to use the season passes I’d bought for my ex-husband. I am a woman of plans, and this one’s foolproof.

Until Zach Bowen offers to be my practice round.

He’s infuriating. Presumptuous and overbearing. And absolutely, undeniably gorgeous. Any woman with a heartbeat would be attracted to him, and mine picks up speed every time he speaks.

But as I said, I’m a woman of plans — and I’m not backing down on this one.

One night. One game. And then, his time’s up.

He can try to change the rules, but here’s the truth: he can’t win if he’s playing the wrong game.

It's no secret that Kandi Steiner is an auto-buy author for me. After reading some heavy emotional books for her past two releases, I was so excited for a fun football romance from her!

When Gemma was betrayed in the worst way possible by a man, she has no idea how she'll ever open her heart again. So with the Chicago Bears season tickets she bought the man who betrayed her, Gemma is determined to meet a new man every week to bring to the game with her. But when Zach Bowen, a hot bartender who overhears her planning with her best friend, offers to be her practice round, he is both infuriating and undeniably charming. Gemma tries to continue with her plan, but Zach won't let her go that easily.

I will say, the prologue of this book hits you in the gut and I was not expecting that. After we get past Gemma's hurt, though, and into her plan to date around during football season, this book turned into the fun contemporary that the synopsis promised it to be. The romance was so adorable and Zach was just so charming. I loved how determined he was to show Gemma she could choose just one guy to be with and that that guys was him. As a football fan, I loved their time at games together and the whole football atmosphere that came alive in this book.

While this romance was fun and cute, I felt like the story did drag a bit around the middle and I wanted something more to grab my attention. Nothing really important or exciting happened during the middle that made me have that obsession with the book that I had at the beginning. It was just a sweet story with two people who had been hurt in the past learning to trust and love again.

If you want a fun contemporary full of football, hotdogs, and romance, The Wrong Game is the book for you. Gemma's character was so relatable and you won't be able to help but swoon over Zach's character. It's safe to say that Kandi Steiner knows how to deliver a good romance and you have to pick up The Wrong Game!
