IS THIS REAL!?!?! DO WE REALLY FINALLY HAVE HIDEAWAY!?!?! That was pretty much my reaction when an e-arc of Hideaway popped up on my kindle. This is definitely my most anticipated release of this year and Kai was hands down my favorite character of Corrupt, so I could't wait to finally read his story!

Kai and Banks are very different from the people that they were six years ago when they first met. Now, with Damon in hiding and another Devil's Night approaching, Kai and Banks enjoy playing a little, dangerous game with one another, a game that neither one of them are backing down from anytime soon. 

Like I said, I freaking loved Kai in Corrupt. While I enjoyed Rika and Michael, I wasn't head over heels for Michael. Kai, on the other hand, had my heart and stole it even more in this book. Like the other horsemen, Kai is pretty broken and has so many dark secrets and demons that he's fighting. Banks was such a refreshing, strong yet soft character to balance out Kai's dark side. I loved how much they challenged each other and pushed each other over the edge. This is definitely a dark book, but there were some pretty steamy parts to lighten up the story. 

Speaking of dark, there was so much suspense in this book, just as much as book one, and I was FREAKING out at parts. I literally sat up straight and had my nose practically stuck to the page. I did think the end happened a little too fast, but I still felt my heart pumping for the last 15% of the book. There were so many twists and turns in this book and, while I saw some of them coming, this book still kept me guessing along the way. And I loved how we still got a lot of depth with all four of the horsemen and not just Kai. I started to really like Will's character, enjoyed seeing more of Michael, and am intrigued by what we got from Damon's character. All I can say is, where is book three!?!? 

If you love a dark, gritty, steamy romance, you have to pick up the Devil's Night series. The moment you lay eyes on the first page, you will be hooked on these gorgeous, dangerous, broken men and the women who test them and put them in their places.

I honestly never have any idea where to start when it comes to reviewing a new Colleen Hoover book. When I heard that her newest release was going back to her YA roots, I was skeptical. I have really outgrown YA and wasn't sure if I would enjoy it or not. All I can say is shame on me for ever doubting Colleen Hoover. 

Whenever I go into a new CoHo book, I love going in blind, so I'm not going to tell you a whole lot about the synopsis. All I can say it's about a girl and her family. Really, that's all you need to know to truly appreciate this book. Once again, Colleen has delivered a book that has really made me take a hard look at life and how I view the world. Just as like with It Ends With Us, I left this book with a whole new point of view on people and what others go through that I may not understand. This book deals with some pretty serious topics, but in the endearing and quirky CoHo way. 

I've got to say, when I started this book and first met our main character, I was not feeling the story. But, when I got more into the story and got to learn more about the main character, who she was, and who her family was, I fell head over heels for this book. The beginning made so much more sense and the family dynamics in this book were interesting to say the least. While there was a romance, it was not the center of the story, which I actually appreciated. There was so much more going on in Merit's life that the romance was only just a part of it. 

Without Merit is one of the most unique, endearing books I have ever read. I have never encountered a character like Merit or a family like hers in a book and I don't think I ever will again. While Colleen addresses some serious topics in her books, she does it in away that is so spot-on and aware that it will change how you view the world. Even if you're not a YA reader, this is so much more than just a book about a teenager and EVERYONE has to pick it up.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. I am so incredibly proud of Sarah for writing this book and so happy that this book is finally going out into the world and into people's hands. I have read this book soooo many times in its different stages of publication, so it definitely holds a special place in my heart. I will say, I am probably biased in this review because Sarah is one of my best friends and I helped edit this book, but I honestly think you all need to read it! 

Surfing was Emery Lawson's world, especially as the daughter of surfing legend Ren Lawson. Until it wasn't. Now, Emery has to surf in secret so that the ones she loves don't force her to stop. Emery doesn't know who she would be without surfing, so she does all she can to keep it. When she runs into Bash Cleaton, pro surfer and pretty boy, Emery has no idea that Bash is fighting to hold on to the very passion she almost lost. 

What I probably loved most about this book was the characters. Emery is just so sarcastic and tells it how it is and I love her. There were so many laugh-out-loud moments when her and Bash would banter and verbally spar. Emery is the kind of person who deflects when awkward or serious conversations come out and it was so fun how the more Bash got to know her, the more he would call her out on it. Bash is someone who can challenge Emery and push her to face the difficulties in life that she'd prefer to ignore. 

I am so happy that this is a surfer story because, of the sports romances out there, we really don't get a lot of surfer stories. And this one has a female athlete as well, which is so refreshing. Because of Emery's past, it's really hard for Emery to follow her dreams, even though she really does have great, supportive parents. Bash, on the other hand, has very different parents from Emery's and he has to deal with a lot of personal things in this story as well. Instead of leaning on each other, though, Bash and Emery let each other stand strong on their own, which I loved about their relationship. 

While I loved Bash and Emery's relationship and chemistry, this book definitely sets you up to be obsessed with the next couple in this series, as well as all of the other characters in Emery's friend circle. I'm dying for her friends to each have a book and cannot wait for the next books in this series! You all have to pick yourself up a copy of Break Line and meet these amazing and endearing characters now!
