Book Review: Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Hate Notes

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end...

No one does romance like Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, especially a good office romance. Hate Notes sounded like it would have a very unique beginning and I couldn't wait to dive in!

When Charlotte finds a romantic blue note sewn into a dress she finds while selling her own un-worn wedding dress, she knows she has to find who wrote it. Before she knows it, though, she's working for the very author of the note, a very arrogant, cynical man who won't miss a moment to antagonize her. As Reed gets to know his new assistant, he's surprised by how much he likes being around her and by how much he's falling for her, no matter how hard he tries not to.

I can always count on laughing out loud when I read one of Vi and Penelope's books, and this one was no exception. I absolutely loved how this book started and how Charlotte got the job working for Reed. As always, I love a good office romance and it was so fun watching Charlotte and Reed constantly having to be around each other because of work.

Things did turn a little more serious near the end, but I loved how we got to see so much more into Reed as a person and how he felt about falling for Charlotte. Their little to-do list was such a fun idea and it was fun watching them pushing each other out of their comfort zones as they were feeling more and more for each other.

Overall, this was another fun romance from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. The book did slow down near the end, but I still loved the romance and the banter between Charlotte and Reed. For a fun romance, you have to check out Hate Notes!
