There’s a fine line between lust and hate.

I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem.

His mouth is.

And the stupid things that come out of it.

But after an emergency strands us together, and he does his damnedest to take care of me…

Let’s just say there’s one thing we don’t clash on.

And it doesn’t involve talking.

I’ve despised Drew since I met him years ago. One weekend can’t change us that much, can it?

Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.

Except he left me a little keepsake.

And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for Portland’s most notorious player.

I am a huge fan of Lex Martin, especially her Dearest series. I have never read one of her co-written books, but this one sounded too cute to pass up!

Kendall hates Drew Merritt with every fiber of her being. Seeing as he's her best friend's husband's best friend, though, there's no ignoring him. Disgusted by his constant partying and rude behavior, Kendall would be happy to never see him again. But they're forced to spend time together when their mutual best friends invite them to a Thanksgiving getaway in the mountains. When the snowstorm is heavier than expected, Kendall and Drew are snowed in and Kendall learns that Drew has changed and may not be the immature playboy she always thought he was.

Based on the title, I knew going in that this was going to have a surprise pregnancy trope. I normally hate books that spring that up in a book, but I think knowing about it going in, I wasn't as annoyed. I will say, we still did have to wait until half of the book before Kendall learned she was pregnant, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I was just waiting and waiting for it to happen and felt like half the book was too long to wait to have something happen that you were told about in both the synopsis and the title of the book.

That little pet peeve aside, though, this book was so stinking cute and I found myself smiling more than once over Drew's character. Yeah, Drew had a pretty rocky past, but he changed and he was so darn cute with how much he cared for Kendall and really wanted to take care of her. Of course, Kendall was hesitant to trust him after all he'd done in their past, but he really was a changed man and I loved how earnest he was and how determined he was to show Kendall that he wasn't messing around and that he really wanted to work things out with her.

If you want a super cute romance between two people who used to hate each other, I definitely think you'll enjoy Surprise, Baby! Kendall is a strong professional woman with her own company and Drew is a reformed playboy who is ready to finally land the woman of his dreams. They seem like an unlikely pair, but you won't be able to help but swoon as they fall in love!
