From New York Times Bestselling author Laura Kaye, comes the first steamy standalone in her Raven Riders Series, RIDE HARD! A sexy romantic suspense, you might’ve first met the Ravens in the Hard Ink world, but this series about a different kind of a motorcycle club with a protective mission stands on its own and is even sexier, edgier, and grittier! The Raven Riders Series takes you on a new adventure and kicks it into overdrive!

    RIDE HARD - cover

Brotherhood. Club. Family.
They live and ride by their own rules.
These are the Raven Riders…

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club President Dare Kenyon rides hard and values loyalty above all else. He’ll do anything to protect the brotherhood of bikers—the only family he’s got—as well as those who can’t defend themselves. So when mistrustful Haven Randall lands on the club’s doorstep scared that she’s being hunted, Dare takes her in, swears to keep her safe, and pushes to learn the secrets overshadowing her pretty smile.

Haven fled from years of abuse at the hands of her criminal father and is suspicious of any man’s promises, including those of the darkly sexy and overwhelmingly intense Ravens’ leader. But as the powerful attraction between them flares to life, Dare pushes her boundaries and tempts her to want things she never thought she could.

The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before…

Within the past year, I have become addicted to motorcycle romances. I love finding new books in the genre and falling in love with rough and tough, yet totally lovable and sweet, motorcycle men. I couldn't wait to dig into Ride Hard!

Haven has known the motorcycle way of life ever since she was born, but she has never felt welcomed. Instead, she has felt like a prisoner in her father's house where her every move was watched and controlled. Now that she's finally free and under the protection of the Raven Riders, she is slowly starting to feel like she is actually living. And the president of the club seems to be the key to her truly living and trusting again. Dare has dedicated himself to his club and protecting those who need help, so when they find Haven and he sees how innocent yet strong she is, he can't help the desire he feels stirring inside.

When I picked this book up, I had no idea there was such a huge age difference between our main characters. Dare was 37 and Haven was 22, and she definitely acted her age while I found it hard to believe that Dare was actually 37. I normally don't have a problem with age differences if they're done well, but I just couldn't agree with this one. Haven was just too shy and skittish, yet opened up to Dare and their physical relationship pretty quickly. And I hated how much the author repeated that she wasn't a virgin, but it had been awhile. Yeah, I got that and don't need to be reminded every time Haven thought about being intimate with Dare.

As for the motorcycle club aspect, this was so tame compared to what I want from that genre. Even 100 pages in, our main characters didn't do too much and barely had even left the clubhouse. Where was my action and danger? Considering people were looking for Haven since she ran away, I wanted more of a threat and danger throughout the whole book. I became rather bored and since I didn't connect with Haven or her relationship with Dare, I found myself not caring for the story.

Overall, this was a miss for me. Ride Hard was lacking in both romance and the intensity and danger that comes with being involved with a motorcycle club. I didn't care for the age difference and didn't find the main character interesting or engaging. While this one had so much potential, it missed the mark for me.
