Follow My Book Blog Friday (152)

Follow My Book Blog Friday is a meme hosted every Friday by Parajunkee where book bloggers answer a question each week and check out how others answered it. It's a cool way for bloggers and viewers to connect and learn more about each other!

Question: Before blogging (dark times, people!), how did you find out about new books?

Answer: Honestly, I just browsed through the library or bookstore and picked up whatever looked good. I never researched when books came out or what was popular at the time, I just liked the browse and found some of my favorite authors that way. I think that's where I got my love for book covers. If I saw a book with a super pretty cover at the library, I just grabbed it and added it to my stack of books to already check out. No questions asked. Once I got home, I grabbed a book that I know absolutely nothing about, kicked back, and prepared to be amazed.

  1. Ooh nice! I pretty much did that too but at Borders. I would start at the A's and work my way down looking for something that struck my fancy! It took longer than it does nowadays. I didn't have fave authors. It took a long time too because I would look for paranormal titles and the YA shelves didn't have many of those at the time! Now there's a whole section!

  2. I used to do that too, all the time! I would pick up a book, mostly drawn to it by its cover and that's how I found some of my favorite books/authors. :D

  3. I used to do the same thing and I kind of miss it. Now I just pick up books based on my TBR list on Goodreads, but I miss just discovering something new without knowing about it ahead of the time or checking Goodreads first to make sure it has a good average rating.
