Stacking the Shelves (68)

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where bloggers share what they got throughout the week!

From Walmart

I read this one over the summer and really enjoyed it, but I didn't have my own copy. So when I saw a hardback at Walmart for 40%, I just couldn't pass it up. Also, I've been observing a 9th grade English classroom for the past two weeks and my cooperating teacher had asked me to pick two books to recommend to the kids for their independent reading. I decided to recommend The Fault In Our Stars and Divergent, so I needed a copy to show them when I talked about it. Hopefully they like the books I recommended!

From Library

One of the independent reading choices for my students in September was Looking for Alaska and the ones who were reading it loved the book. It made me so happy that these 9th graders were getting excited over books, so I knew it was about time I picked up a copy of this book and read it for myself. I've heard TONS of good things about it, and I really enjoy John Green's books. Hopefully this one is as good as everyone says it is!

That's it for me! What did you all add to your shelves this week?

  1. I would love a week with just a couple of books-it wouldn't take me as long to do my STS every week! Enjoy your books!

  6. Both John Green. I must admit, TFIOS was my first and John Green read, but I'm hoping to read more of his books. Happy reading!

Great choices for the classroom, btw! It's so great when kids get excited about reading.

  8. I haven't read Looking for Alaska myself, but my brother read it and loved it! And he almost never reads books, so it has to be an amazing book.

  16. John Green is AMAZING. Looking for Alaska was great but TFiOS was remarkable. One of my all time favorite books. That's awesome you got it for a great deal in HC.

  17. I'm going to hang my head right now and admit that I've never read John Green. It's shameful, I know. I will fix that someday soon, hopefully! Enjoy your new books!
