Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls. Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who went up against the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape Pine Cottage and the man she refers to only as Him. The three girls are all attempting to put their nightmares behind them, and, with that, one another. Despite the media's attempts, they never meet.

Now, Quincy is doing well—maybe even great, thanks to her Xanax prescription. She has a caring almost-fiancĂ©, Jeff; a popular baking blog; a beautiful apartment; and a therapeutic presence in Coop, the police officer who saved her life all those years ago. Her memory won’t even allow her to recall the events of that night; the past is in the past.

That is, until Lisa, the first Final Girl, is found dead in her bathtub, wrists slit, and Sam, the second, appears on Quincy's doorstep. Blowing through Quincy's life like a whirlwind, Sam seems intent on making Quincy relive the past, with increasingly dire consequences, all of which makes Quincy question why Sam is really seeking her out. And when new details about Lisa's death come to light, Quincy's life becomes a race against time as she tries to unravel Sam's truths from her lies, evade the police and hungry reporters, and, most crucially, remember what really happened at Pine Cottage, before what was started ten years ago is finished.

I am not usually a thriller reader, but after hearing all of the buzz about this book, I couldn't resist finally picking it up and seeing if it was as thrilling as people said!

Quincy Carpenter is a final girl. Ten years ago, she was the sole survivor of a massacre during a weekend away with her friends. Quincy will never be the same, but she's moving on with her fiancĂ© and work on her growing baking blog. But when one of the two other girls dubbed a "final girl" shows up dead, Quincy is scared someone is coming after them. Sam, the only other surviving final girl, shows up on Quincy's doorstep and forces Quincy to confront her past and uncover secrets she never knew were there.

When I first started this one, there wasn't too much thrill to it. We got to meet Quincy and see how she was living now. But once the flashbacks started to happen as Quincy began to remember more and more of what she blocked out on the night of the massacre she survived, I was hooked. I loved how the chapters alternated as we uncovered more about the past while uncovering things in the current time. This ensured I was never bored and could not stop turning the pages.

And talk about shocking! I'm not going to spoil anything, but I did not see any of the secrets coming, which tells you this is definitely a good thriller. I hate books where it's obvious who was behind everything. I honestly was shocked with each revelation throughout this book and could not stop thinking about this story once I finished.

While I don't often read thrillers, I am so happy I chose to pick up Final Girls. I was addicted to this story and was kept in suspense the entire time. If you want a thriller that keeps you on edge and knows how to surprise you, you have to pick up Final Girls.
