Blog Tour + Review: The Foxe and the Hound by RS Grey

The Foxe and the Hound
By RS Grey
Release Date: June 1, 2017
When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much.

It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.

That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.

With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.

Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.

It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.

It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

I have read quite a few books by RS Grey, but there are only two that I was absolutely in love with and obsessed with. I really enjoyed her other books, but nothing has kept me reading all night and laughing out loud. Until now.

Madeleine is twenty-seven and life has not turned out as she expected. Working as a realtor with virtually no clients and going to every singles event in town, only to go home alone, Madeleine has started to feel no hope for her future, professionally or romantically. That is until her giant beast of a dog tramples over a very handsome stranger. Dr. Foxe. Easy on the eyes and fresh meat in town, every woman sees the potential in Adam. Including Madeleine. But as the two run into each other more and more, they only seem to butt heads and grate on each other's nerves. Adam, though, is hiding a past that may explain his sour mood, and when Adam and Madeleine push aside their differences, they find it harder to resist one another.

In the beginning, I wasn't so sure how I would like this book. When they first met, Adam was furious with Madeleine and ranted about how horrible her dog was. As a veterinarian, this seemed like a weird response, even if her dog was ill-behaved. After that initial meeting, though, I fell in love with Madeleine and Adam's relationship. Madeleine was so flawed and I found her character to be so relatable. She even said how nothing ever went her way and she was someone who always had to work hard for everything and nothing was handed to her. Unfortunate things did happen to her, but it was fun to see how she took everything in stride and tried to make it work.

I enjoyed seeing Daisy and Lucas from Anything You Can Do, and I also loved Adam's family. The side characters made this story even more enjoyable and they added some comedy that had me laughing out loud. Even though this is a rom com, the comedy wasn't over the top and didn't deter from the romance at the center of the novel.

Overall, this was a huge hit for me. I loved the main characters, and did I mention the dogs?? Mouse was awesome and I loved how he was an important part of the story. The relationship was believable and was so fun to follow as Adam and Madeleine tried to ignore their feelings for each other. If you want a fantastic romantic comedy from a fabulous author, you have to pick up The Foxe and the Hound!
