This is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week bloggers share a list of books for the prompt given. So hopefully I'll have a new list to share with you all each week!
This Week's Topic: Top Ten Books I Wish Were Taught In Schools
I did a post similar to this topic for my Follow Friday meme a couple of weeks ago, so for this one I'll make sure to include the books that I wish were taught in schools that I didn't get to read in high school. There were quite a few classics I had to miss out on in high school and read myself. So here's the list!
Classics
1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger
3. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
4. Persuasion by Jane Austen
5. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
Fiction
1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
4. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
5. Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Who wouldn't want to read Harry Potter in school :D?
ReplyDeleteI love Perks! I feel like that would be a perfect book to read in school!
ReplyDeleteYay Harry Potter! It's bound to make the required reading list someday I think! or wishfully think!

Have a GREAT day!

I love Frankenstein and Catcher in the Rye :) My sister actually did read HP in high school (we learn English as a second language here, so reading something as difficult as real Classics usually doesn't happen at that level).
ReplyDeleteI could totally imagine people 50 years or so in the future reading THG in school! Kind of like we read Brave New World or 1984.

I definitely think Perks and any Sarah Dessen book would be great for school reading. I thankfully was introduced to Jane Austen through my sophomore English teacher, but know that many students don't get to experience her until later. And that's a shame! Great list!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely The Hunger Games! I do love City of Bones, but I wasn't sure what it would teach... why did you choose it? Great list!
