*Each Bishop Brothers novel is an interconnected standalone*

Alex Bishop is your typical cowboy.

Charming, sexy, and wears a panty-melting smirk.

Working on the ranch helped build his solid eight-pack and smoking body. He’s every girl’s wet fantasy and he knows it too. Alex doesn’t follow the rules of your typical playboy bachelor. After wining and dining his dates and giving them the best night of their lives, he always sends flowers and calls the next day—even if it’s to say, let’s just be friends. His mama taught him manners after all and his southern blood knows how to be a gentleman. Still, that isn’t enough to tame the wildest of the Bishop brothers.

River Lancaster has finally met the man of her dreams. Too bad after six months of romantic bliss, she finds out he’s married. With a broken heart and blind rage, she books herself a ticket to Key West, Florida. Tired of cheaters and liars, she’s set on escaping to forget he ever existed. Who needs a man when there’s an all-you-can-drink margarita bar, anyway? That’s what she tells herself until she bumps into the right guy who can make all those bad memories disappear.
Even if it’s only temporarily.

Two weeks on the beach is what they both need. No strings attached, no expectations, no broken hearts. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll change the entire course of their lives in just nine short months.

**A complete standalone contemporary romance with a little southern drama**

Blog Tour: Breaking the Ice by Julie Cross

Breaking the Ice (Juniper Falls #2)
by Julie Cross
Release Date: December 26, 2017
The second book in the Juniper Falls series from NY Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Cross, perfect for fans of Miranda Kenneally and Abbi Glines.

Haley Stevenson seems like she’s got it all together: cheer captain, “Princess” of Juniper Falls, and voted Most Likely to Get Things Done. But below the surface, she’s struggling with a less-than-stellar GPA and still reeling from the loss of her first love. Repeating her Civics class during summer school is her chance to Get Things Done, not angst over boys. In fact, she’s sworn them off completely until college.

Fletcher Scott is happy to keep a low profile around Juniper Falls. He’s always been the invisible guy, warming the bench on the hockey team and moonlighting at a job that would make his grandma blush. Suddenly, though, he’s finding he wants more: more time on the ice, and more time with his infuriatingly perfect summer-school study partner.

But leave it to a girl who requires perfection to shake up a boy who’s ready to break all the rules.

Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross is one of my absolute favorite sports romances and I also really enjoyed the first book in this series. I couldn't wait to get back into Juniper Falls and see another hockey player fall in love!

I've got to say, it's really hard for me to enjoy a book if I don't like the characters. And Haley was a very hard character to like. From the beginning, she seemed ditzy and everything she would say she was trying not to be. Yes, she was super loyal to her friends and was trying to hold all of her cheerleaders accountable on her cheer squad and get good grades. But then she paired up with the geeky guy in class to get a good grade and literally took no notes in class and listed her "to-do list" of coming up with new cheers and cleaning her underwear drawer. Really? From the moment we met her, I wasn't a fan and she didn't really become any more likable as the story went on.

While the romance was very sweet, it was still a little weird to me and I still don't understand Fletcher's character. Of course, Haley's parents leave for a month long trip and Fletcher's are pretty hands-off, so we don't have a lot of parents around in yet another YA novel. Fletcher seemed so serious about hockey and school, but the other side of his personality that was revealed throughout the novel didn't really mesh with that. And the way Haley and Fletcher started to acknowledge their feelings for each other was kind of awkward and weird to me. I did love how Fletcher became better friends with the guys on the hockey team as he became more and more serious about making varsity. The side characters were all very fun too, I just didn't find myself loving the main couple.

Overall, this wasn't my favorite book from Julie Cross, but it was still an enjoyable read. What stopped me from loving this book were the main characters and the dynamic of their romance. I just couldn't completely like Hayley's character or fully grasp Fletcher's character.

Book Review: The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren

The Ones Who Got Away (The Ones Who Got Away #1)
by Roni Loren
Release Date: January 2, 2018
Source: Publisher
Liv's words cut off as Finn got closer. The man approaching was nothing like the boy she'd known. The bulky football muscles had streamlined into a harder, leaner package and the look in his deep green eyes held no trace of boyish innocence.

It's been twelve years since tragedy struck the senior class of Long Acre High School. Only a few students survived that fateful night—a group the media dubbed The Ones Who Got Away.

Liv Arias thought she'd never return to Long Acre—until a documentary brings her and the other survivors back home. Suddenly her old flame, Finn Dorsey, is closer than ever, and their attraction is still white-hot. When a searing kiss reignites their passion, Liv realizes this rough-around-the-edges cop might be exactly what she needs
…

Just one look at this cover and I knew that I had to read it. When I read the synopsis, I was surprised by how unique the story sounded and I couldn't wait for the chance to pick it up!

12 years after they survived a school shooting on prom night, five friends are brought back together to their hometown and pasts they've run away from to take part in a documentary as the ones who got away. Liv Arias was the wild child in high school and knows her teenage self would be appalled by the safe, bland life she's living now. When she runs into Finn Dorsey, Liv can't help but feel the chemistry that fueled their secret relationship as teenagers. But Finn can never forgive himself for what he did the night of the shooting and is dealing with some demons of his own. As an undercover cop, Finn will do anything to prevent another shooting like that again, but being around Liv again has made him feel more human than he has in a very long time.

Oh wow. From the beginning you know this book is going to have some serious conflict for our main couple of their desire to be together. Finn did something pretty unforgivable when they were in the shooting and it's so hard for him to live with himself and what he did. I loved how all of the characters are getting back together and reflecting on how they wanted to live their lives after being the survivors of a horrible tragedy. This made Liv take a good look at her life and realize who she was and who she really wants to be. I enjoyed watching her and Finn try to figure out their feelings for each other and if they really had a chance now after their painful history together.

And can we take a minute to appreciate Finn's character? He's an undercover cop and I LOVE a good cop romance. He is so protective and I loved how he was there for Liv when she was still dealing with PTSD over what happened to her in the shooting. It was fun watching Liv try to help Finn acclimate to society again after being undercover for two years and I just couldn't get enough of them together.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Ones Who Got Away. I haven't read a romance like this and I really enjoyed the depth of the history between the two main characters. If you're at all interested in this one, you definitely have to pick it up!

Cover Reveal: The Upside to Being Single by Emma Hart

If anyone asks, I knew better than to flash my boobs for Mardi Gras beads.

I still don’t know why I did it. Maybe it was the dare from my two best friends. Maybe it was the guys on the balcony saying they’d throw Fireball shots with the beads. Or maybe it was the quiet guy in the corner of that same balcony with piercing gray eyes, wavy dark hair, and a smile so tempting I wanted to climb up there and lick it off his face. Maybe it was because I never thought I’d see them again. Not that it matters. Not today. Because the hotel I manage was finally bought—and the guy who walks in and introduces himself as my new boss is Mr. Tall, Dark, and Silent. There are many upsides to being single. Your new boss knowing what your boobs look like? Not one of them.

Book Review: Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard #1)
by Christina Lauren
Release Date: February 12, 2013
Source: Own Copy
An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.

You would not believe the hype that has surrounded this book pretty much ever since it came out. SO many people have told me to read this book and I finally sat down and read the whole thing in one day. While I was definitely wary of the plot when I began reading it, I'm so happy I finally picked it up!

Ever since Chloe Mills started working for Bennett Ryan, he has been nothing but a jerk to her. A beautiful jerk, but a jerk nonetheless. No matter how rude he is, though, Bennett and Chloe work well together and Chloe is almost finished with her final project to get her MBA. When Bennett comes back from France to work for his father's company, he does not need an irresistible and infuriating woman as his assistant. One hot moment together, though, and Bennett finds himself finally giving into his lust and shocking Chloe. Chloe is surprised by the lust she feels in return for Bennett, but they both know nothing good can come out of an office romance between two people who claim to loath one another…

In the beginning, I was so skeptical of this book. Not even TEN PAGES into this book, Chloe talks about how much she hates her boss and how he's so mean to her, and then WHAM, they're hooking up. That was fast. I was very concerned about the pacing and understanding Bennett's character, but then we got a chapter from Bennett's perspective and I absolutely loved him. I think that having the POVs of both main characters was so important for this story and made me really love it. I appreciated how headstrong and determined Chloe was and how she didn't want to take any free rides to completing her project and landing a job once she got her MBA.

What I also really loved about this book was how much Chloe and Bennett infuriated one another, but they just couldn't resist one another. If you enjoy a good enemies to lovers romance, as well as an office romance, you are going to LOVE this one. These two have to work in a professional setting while hating each other, but also while trying to resist one another. It was so entertaining and I really loved seeing Bennett's perspective and why he was so hard on Chloe. His family was so fun and I loved how they gave him such a hard time about how he treated Chloe.

Overall, I am so happy I still gave this book a chance and continued with Chloe and Bennett's story. I loved both of them so much and how driven and dedicated they were to their jobs. They are also both such stubborn people, so it was fun watching them work together and start some sort of relationship together. Any fan of office romances HAS to pick up Beautiful Bastard!
