Book Review Blitz: Take Me Back by Meghan March

TMB_Twitter_NA

TakeMeBack_FrontCover

We fell in love on a beach, got married in paradise, and I carried her off into the sunset. It should have been perfect, but saying “I do” doesn’t guarantee a happily-ever-after.

Two years later, I barely recognize either of us behind the walls we’ve built.

It’s time to bring it full circle. Back to a tropical paradise. Back to find out if we can still make this work.

I’m not willing to give her up, but to save us, I have to risk everything.

Two damaged people.

Countless secrets.

The fight of our lives.
We might be broken, but we’re not done.

Is this cover for real? Because it is so gorgeous and I knew I had to read it before I even read what it was about. I haven't read anything else by Meghan March, but I knew that I had was going to read this book!

Dane and Kat had undeniable chemistry when they first met and quickly fell in love. They got married and thought they would have the perfect happily ever after. But two years later and they're practically strangers. They're giving themselves one last tropical vacation to find the passion and love they once had and try to salvage their relationship before it's too late.

I want to start off my review by saying that I'm going to be vague when discussing this book and that's on purpose. I went into this book knowing that it was about a couple who had grown apart and were trying to save their relationship. That's literally all you should know because you need to go into this blind to get the full effect. I had no idea what would happen and that made me so much more invested in the story and where the story was going to take our main characters.

How this book was set up, I loved how we didn't know what secrets our characters were hiding from each other or what had gone wrong in their relationship. I kept on trying to guess what they could possibly be hiding from each other and I loved watching how they met intertwined with how broken their relationship was now. The only reason that I gave this book a four star rating is because I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I wanted more of a realistic timeline and things fleshed out just a bit more.

Overall, this book surprised me so much and had so many emotions! I was heavily invested in Dane and Kat's relationship and was definitely surprised with how this book turned out. Like I said, go in completely blind and you will be hooked in no time. If you want a unique read that will toy with your emotions and give you a couple you find yourself rooting for, you have to pick up Take Me Back!

Book Review: Egomaniac by Vi Keeland

Egomaniac
By Vi Keeland
Release Date: January 16, 2017
Source: Amazon
The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office.  He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.  In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients.  But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued.  Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships.  And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

The minute I finished this book, I shoved it in my sister's hands and told her she had to read it. Does that tell you how I felt about this book? Yeah, I loved it.

The first time Emerie met Drew Jaggar, she thought he was a burglar who broke into her office. Little did she know, she was actually conned into "renting" Drew's office. Out thousands of dollars, Emerie has no idea what she's going to do. Drew is intrigued by Emerie from the moment he meets her and feels a pull towards her. Drew offers to share his space, space he has refused to share with anyone else, if she answers his phones and helps out with his schedule. Emerie is grateful and excited to be able to stay, even if it means hanging around the egotistical divorce attorney. No matter how different Drew and Emerie may seem, the more they spend working with each other, the stronger their attraction builds and the harder it is to deny it…

Oh man, from the moment that Drew and Emerie met I was totally hooked on this story. While it isn't a full out rom-com, I laughed out loud so many times in this book and was so addicted to Drew and Emerie's banter. This all stemmed from a friendship the two formed while working and I think that's why I loved their relationship so much. Sure they were attracted to each other, but they only started to really develop feelings for each other after hanging out and just enjoying each other's company. Drew would play jokes on Emerie and Emerie would just be there to help out when Drew needed it. *sigh* It was perfect!

While there were some more steamy scenes in this book, this was definitely all about the relationship and not necessarily the physical side. And while there was another guy that Emerie was interested in, it was a very realistic and not an over-the-top love interest that was there just to act as a conflict for the plot. Every moment of this book was pure perfection and all I can say is that I definitely want a guy as fun and sweet as Drew in my life!

This was my first Vi Keeland book and is definitely not going to be my last! This is already one of my favorites of 2017 and I see it staying on that list until the end of the year. This was so much more than a romance and I just loved the characters and the fun friendship they formed. I cannot wait to pick up more from Vi Keeland! If you want a fun, refreshing, and just all around perfect romance, you have to pick up Egomaniac!

Words in Deep Blue
By Cath Crowley
Release Date: June 6, 2017
Years ago, Rachel had a crush on Henry Jones. The day before she moved away, she tucked a love letter into his favorite book in his family’s bookshop. She waited. But Henry never came.

Now Rachel has returned to the city—and to the bookshop—to work alongside the boy she’d rather not see, if at all possible, for the rest of her life. But Rachel needs the distraction. Her brother drowned months ago, and she can’t feel anything anymore.

As Henry and Rachel work side by side—surrounded by books, watching love stories unfold, exchanging letters between the pages—they find hope in each other. Because life may be uncontrollable, even unbearable sometimes. But it’s possible that words, and love, and second chances are enough.

--------------------------------------

I haven't been reading a lot of YA lately, but this book looks too good to pass up! As a book lover, I think it's so adorable that the main character of this book slipped a love letter into a book for a boy the day she was moving away. Little did she know she'd be back! And they end up working in a bookstore together!? Could this book be any more adorable? I actually received an ARC of this book, so I don't have to wait long to read it, and I can't wait to dig in!

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where bloggers share what books they got throughout the week!

From Amazon

I had an Amazon gift card, so I treated myself to two new books! Be My Hero is book three in the Forbidden Men series and I am SO EXCITED for this book! And I have been eyeing Love in Lingerie ever since it was released and can't wait to read it!

From Kennedy Fox

I am a part of the Kennedy Fox InstaFam, so I was sent a Kennedy Fox Box to unbox and post on my Instagram. Since my box was delayed, though, Kennedy Fox sent me the first two books in their series as well! I was so shocked and thankful that the wonderful author duo would do such a sweet thing! I still can't believe I now own all three books in the series! And the box was so much fun! I loved the first book of this series and cannot wait to dive in to the other two!

First we were friends. Then we were roommates. Now I want more…

What can I say about Chess Copper? The woman is capable of bringing me to my knees. I know this about five minutes after getting naked for her.

I want to know Chess, be close to her. Which is a bad idea.

Chess is looking for a relationship. I’ve never given a woman more than one night. But when fate leaves Chess without a home, I step up and offer her mine. We’re roommates now. Friends without benefits. But it’s getting harder to keep our hands off each other. And the longer we live together the more I realize she’s becoming my everything.

Trick is… Now that I’ve made her believe I’m a bad bet, how do I convince her to give this player a true shot at forever?

Moving forward and creating memories is all I want for us, but when the past continues to come back and haunt me, I'm not so sure she'll stay for the ride.

Book Review: Die For You by Amy Fellner Dominy

Die For You
By Amy Fellner Dominy
Release Date: November 8, 2016
Source: Publisher
Theirs was the perfect love story.

After Emma Lorde’s parents’ divorce forces her to move halfway across the state of Arizona to live with her father, Emma must face her senior year in a new school knowing absolutely no one.

Then she meets Dillon Hobbs, and something just clicks.

Dillon introduces Emma to friends she can call her own. He provides a refuge from the chaos of her past, and the security of a commitment that he promises will last forever. And because circumstances of her messy life forced Emma to put aside her dream of pursuing archaeology, Dillon creates a blueprint for a future together.

He saves her, over and over, by loving her more than she thought anyone ever would.

But just when everything seems picture-perfect, Emma is offered an opportunity that will upend the future they’ve planned. Uncertainty grows, and fear spirals into something darker.

Now Dillon is the one who needs saving.

But how much do you sacrifice for the one you love? What if saving Dillon means losing herself?

I haven't been reading a lot of YA lately, but this one definitely caught my eye. The cover is so pretty and it sounded like an emotional read that I wouldn't forget.

When both of their lives were crashing down, Dillon and Emma found strength and comfort from each other. They fell in love deeply and quickly and have spent the past year falling even more in love. They know that once they graduate high school, they'll both go to ASU, live in the same dorms, and stay madly in love. But when Emma is offered an opportunity that could ruin all of those plans, Dillon shows a side of himself Emma has never seen and learns exactly how much she's willing to give of herself for their relationship.

Wow, so I had no idea this book would be so…emotional? Heartbreaking? Frustrating? Realistic? So many different feelings while I was reading! Emma and Dillon are only 18 year olds in high school yet they are so consumed with their love for each other. What I loved about this book, which another review on Goodreads had pointed out, was that we get to meet these characters already madly in love. These two met when Emma was in a rough spot in her life and she felt an inexplicable draw to Dillon. She had spent a whole year falling for him and they really thought they were the real deal. Their relationship was realistic and I understood why Emma was in a tough spot. She loved Dillon but also wanted to go off and experience something else she loved after high school. While the answer may seem obvious to me as an outside to their relationship (put yourself first, girl!), I understood her love for Dillon and need to protect/save him.

On to the emotional side, this was a very interesting look at what happens when a relationship turns very dangerous very fast. These two loved each other, but they were so attached that they couldn't seem to function without one another. This really looked at what it's like for a relationship to change because of how people change over time and how a couple's priorities might not just match up. I really felt connected with Emma and how she really had no idea how to deal with the situation she found herself in. I am going to say, though, that I would recommend this for older YA readers because of the mature content.

Overall, Die For You was emotional and dug deep into the unhealthy, dark places teenage relationships can fall into. What looks like love isn't always real love and it's hard as a teenager to know what's right and what's wrong when it comes to that love. I am definitely glad I picked this book up!
