One moment of recklessness will change their worlds

Smart. Responsible. That's seventeen-year-old Breanna's role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyberbully's line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas "Razor" Turner into her life.

Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don't belong. But when he learns she's being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it's time to step outside the rules.

And so they make a pact: he'll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she'll help him seek answers to the mystery that's haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

“This is going to be the best night of our lives,” announces Reagan. Addison sits at the desk in front of me and Reagan’s to the left of Addison.
I check the clock on the wall over our English teacher’s desk. In exactly two minutes, the bell will ring and the first day of my senior year will begin. It’s not only the first day of school, but also the first Friday of the school year.
Three years ago, Addison, Reagan, and I promised we’d do something crazy on the first Friday of our senior year. After notifying High Grove that I declined their scholarship, crazy is exactly what I need. “Are you sure your parents aren’t going to check on us?”
“Trust me, everything will be golden.” Reagan uses the camera on her phone to fix stray pieces of her dirty blond hair. She curled it this morning and much to her displeasure the curls are falling out. “Has Cass started following you yet? I told her you created a Bragger account.”
I sigh and Addison scowls. She’s less than thrilled with my lack of excitement. I currently have twenty-five followers. It’s better than none, but not nearly reaching Addison and Reagan’s totals. Not sure how this whole social media thing is supposed to be fun. It’s like being back in elementary school and waiting to be picked for kickball.
“To gain followers you must post something.” Addison has this teacher to pupil reprimand going on, and it’s scary on her. “Don’t make me start posting for you, brat. You’re the one that wanted to join the world. Reagan and I are trying to catch you up on how to participate in the land of the living.”
“Because everyone will love reading how I was up doing dishes until midnight,” I say.
“Tell them you were doing it naked and half the boys in school will follow you.” Reagan tosses me a sly smirk and I laugh. She’s always saying things that push the envelope. “Tell them you’ll post the picture if you reach five hundred followers. Watch your stats climb, girl.”
“That would be interesting.” A new voice joins the conversation.
I see the jeans first. Actually I see a rip in the jeans, and that rip is an inch above the knee, and I’m staring at a very muscular male thigh. I enter this weird zone, because there’s this sinking feeling of where this is heading, and ominous sirens are sounding off.
It’s like being stuck in slow motion as I glance up. My heart stops. Starts. And when it starts again, I find I can’t breathe. Golden hair that’s a little long on top. Light blue eyes drinking me in. All I see is a whole lot of gorgeous…and dangerous.
It’s Thomas freaking Turner. He wears the same leather vest that he had on the other night, and underneath it is a black T-shirt with the name of an old-school metal band. My eyes automatically scan his patches and I wonder which one is the warning that he carries a gun.
His fingers skim my desk as he strides past. There are small cuts on his knuckles, and the skin on his hands look rough—like him. For some reason, I find that attractive. It reminds me of him hunched in front of his bike yesterday as he was repairing his machine. The steady way he moved. The serious set of his face. The way the muscles in his arms flexed as he worked.
“Hello, Breana.” Thomas’s voice is deep, smooth and feels like a caress along my skin.

Read-a-long (ch 12-16): Forgetting August by JL Berg

fa-day3

REMEMBERING EVERLY releases in one week and we're participating in the read-a-long of FORGETTING AUGUST to get ready! Today we're discussing chapters 12 - 16! Be sure to check it out below and enter to win a signed copy of the second book in the duet, REMEMBERING EVERLY!

Read an excerpt from this section:

Taking one last glance at the assorted boxes, I only saw one option.
“Can you do me a favor, Brick?” I asked, the very idea of it making my fingers twitch. He nodded once, and I grabbed the nearest box.
“Get rid of it. All of it. I can’t be around it— the memories of her. It’s too painful, knowing I once had something so precious but wasted it away. I don’t care what you do with it, but please— just take it from me.” The words felt like sandpaper against my throat as I spoke. Ever since she’d left that night I’d briefly held her in my arms, I’d spent hours in this room looking over these pictures, analyzing each smile— every laugh, the way my hands and fingers held her— trying to find that moment when things had begun to unravel. Why? I don’t know. Maybe because I just didn’t understand why I would ever stop loving someone like her. But maybe I hadn’t. She’d said I’d locked her away— made her a prisoner in her own home. Why would I have done that? Maybe sometimes love isn’t pure. Maybe sometimes it’s toxic— so toxic it consumes a person until they would do anything to have it. Like a drug. If I loved her now, would it be the same as before? Would I consume her?

Favourite Quotes

“A volcano can only stay dormant for so long… and mine had enough emotions bottled up inside, it was ready to explode.”

“I fled. Fled the memories, the man, and the life I needed to forget.”

About FORGETTING AUGUST

She can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .

Waiting on Wednesday (235)

This is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine where every Wednesday bloggers highlight a book that they are eagerly anticipating the release of!

The Problem With Forever
By Jennifer L Armentrout
Release Date: May 17, 2016
For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.

Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with the lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory faces a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

----------------------------------------

IT'S A NEW JLA BOOK. I went crazy when I saw Jennifer was releasing a new book and, when I read the summary, I was instantly sold. I love how Mallory knew Rider when they were little and how they're reconnected when she goes to public school for her senior year of college. This one sounds emotional and oh so good! I can't wait!

Book Review: Never Never: Part Three by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Never Never (Part Three)
By Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
Release Date: January 19, 2016
Source: Amazon
Together, Silas Nash and Charlize Wynwood must look deeper into the past to find out who they were and who they want to be. With time ticking down, the couple are in a race to find the answers they need before they lose everything. Can they regain what they once had? And will it restore who they once were?

This series of installments completely pulled me in and I could not put them down until I had read every last page! After reading Part 1 right when it came out, I didn't pick up the next two until this past weekend and I flew through them both on the same day.

As time starts running out, Charlie and Silas have to figure out why they keep on forgetting one another and who they were before their memories disappeared. Are they really meant to be?

Wow, I can't believe this is over! My eyes were glued to my iPad until I finished the last page. Watching Charlie and Silas was just…..*sigh*. I don't want to give anything away, but I loved the romance and the progression of their relationship in this final installment. The reason that I only gave this one four stars, though, is because I think that too much was left unanswered. I get why everything was happening and I actually liked that explanation and thought it was perfect for them, but there were some elements and details that happened that still make no sense. We needed just a little bit more!

Overall, I loved these books. They were engaging, heart-wrenching, and romantic. These characters have seriously stressful lives and I just wanted them to be happy and together! Every Colleen Hoover fan needs to read these (seeing as I haven't read anything of Tarryn's, I can't compare to her past books) and definitely read them all at once or else you'll be left begging for more!

Book Review: Never Never: Part Two by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Never Never: Part Two
By Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
Release Date: May 17, 2015
Source: Amazon
Silas races against time as more truths unravel, while others twist tighter together. And now, the stakes are higher as Silas’ control slips and others begin to point fingers. Charlie is in trouble and he must be the one to bridge the chasm between their past and their present. Because somewhere between I love yous and Never Nevers and Never Agains, a truth they can't imagine, beckons to be found.

Seriously? These books drive me insane! Each one ends on a cliffhanger and leaves me begging for the next one!

I don't want to give away too much for those who haven't read the first book, but Silas and Charlie try to dig deeper as to why they keep on losing their memories while time starts running out…

Ah, Silas. Silas, Silas, Silas. We get much more of him than Charlie in this book and I honestly fall more and more in love with him. I absolutely love this idea of having two people who are obviously madly in love with each other but who are having a rocky time forget each other and learn to fall for each other all over again. It's adorable what he learns about Charlie from a fresh perspective and how much of a connection they have when they weren't even together, but searching for each other.

I honestly don't want to say anything else for those of you who haven't read the first installment of this series. All I have to say is that you need to pick these books up! They'll keep you on the edge of your seat while giving you the romance we all know and love from Colleen Hoover.

Book Review: Fight to the Finish by Jeanette Murray

Fight to the Finish (First to Fight #3)
By Jeanette Murray
Release Date: March 1, 2016
Source: Publisher
Kara is a single mom working hard to keep life running smoothly for herself and her son, but a custody battle is wearing her down. When her friend suggests asking a JAG officer for some unofficial advice, Kara agrees—and soon finds herself officially head over heels...

As a Judge Advocate, Graham has seen his share of nasty custody disputes—and he plans on keeping his distance from this one. But this purposeful, passionate woman has a way of drawing him ever closer to the edge. And when Kara’s ex starts to throw his weight around, Graham will have to choose between toeing the line or stepping into the ring

If you know me, you know I love my sports romances. There's just something about a man in a uniform! But I need both action and romance to love a sports romance and this one just didn't make the cut.

As a single mom, Kara is doing everything in her power to raise her son and provide a good life for him. Working as a yoga instructor and running a blog about her son's allergies, Kara is one busy woman. What she doesn't have time for is the irresistible Graham, a fighter for the marines. Graham knows that Kara is the one for him, but can he convince her that he's the one for her, too?

I read the previous book in this series (book number two) and found the romance mediocre and the fighting part definitely lacking. I was hoping for more romance and action in this one, but unfortunately it fell just as flat for me as the previous book. I didn't really see any development between Kara and Graham because Graham was already head over heels for Kara from the start of the novel. I felt like Kara's reasoning for not being with Graham was a little cliche as a single mom and I wanted something more unique.

As for the heat in the romance, I found myself more bored than not with Graham and Kara. Of course, the whole mystery behind who was vandalizing the gym was carried into this book and I didn't really care for it. It seemed kind of obvious who was behind it and I felt like it was just something to be added to the story.

In the end, Jeanette Murray has yet to impress me. While the potential is there, I never find myself caring for the characters and really immersing myself into their stories. When looking for your next intense sports romance, you should skip over this series.

But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

The colors and sights of the club merge. There’s too many people. Too much noise. A few feet away a trio of girls from school are staring at me—watching me and Kyle. One gestures toward me. The other two laugh.
Nausea knots my intestines. I didn’t mean to be the girl people laughed at. In fact, I craved the opposite. I wanted to be me for once, but to be me without the judgment and hate.
Wetness stings my eyes and I pivot away from Kyle. His fingers circle my wrist and he slides in front of me again. “Don’t be upset. I can make this better. For one year, don’t you want to be someone more than the weird smart girl?”
Sadness sinks past my defenses and creates an ache of pain, but then a flash of anger whips through me like a storm gale through trees. I tilt toward him as if he should be scared of me. “I am not that girl!”
“When did you stop? New clothes don’t change who you are, but I can help.”
He said it. Out loud. My fingers form into a fist. I should hit him. I should throw a punch into his face and hurt him exactly how he’s torturing me.
“Let me get you another drink.” His grip on my wrist lightens and his thumb slowly moves across my pulse point. His touch sickens me. “And we’ll talk.”
                  “Leave me alone.”
Kyle releases me then sags like I crushed him and I find him confusing. He’s the one causing me to suffer. He’s the one causing the tears flooding the rim of my eyes.
“I’m not trying to make you cry.” He crams his fingers into his hair. “I’m saying this wrong. Doing this wrong. I swear, I’m not trying to make you cry.”
I’m terrified to peek across the room again—afraid the girls from school will be cackling like hyenas. I desperately try to cling to the anger, but it slips through my fingertips.
I turn and there’s Addison. The elation that was on her face wanes as her eyes crazily take me in. “What happened?”
“Nothing.” My lungs burn and I want so badly to curl into a ball and cry, but I can’t. Not in public. Not with everyone gawking.
When she spots Kyle she rolls her shoulders back. “What did he do?”
“Nothing,” I say, and I’m moving. Through the crowd. Past guys who ask me to dance. Past Reagan who’s all smiles and tries to snatch my hand to join her and another friend. Past tables and chairs. I run past my name being called by multiple people.
I need air. I need to disappear. I need out of Snowflake and out of my home and out of this life and out of my skin and just out and with a push of my hands on the door, I am out.
I suck in a breath when my heels click against the blacktop, but then the door bangs shut and my heart jumps. No, I went out a side door. Not the front door. I spin and my fingers graze the smooth steel where a handle should be. It’s a security door and I’m officially locked out.
“Crap!” I shout into the night, but no one is around to hear.
To the right is a Dumpster. To the left is another alley. Both are shadowed. I choose left and pray once I reach the corner there will be light. But as I go to walk the world becomes disoriented. I throw my hand out to the wall when stumbling seems easier.
                  “Alone again?”
My head snaps back to the entrance and a surge of adrenaline shoots through my veins. Emerging out of the darkness is a large, looming figure. I stagger back. Away from the night of the alley, toward my hope for light, but there’s a crunch of glass under my feet. I trip, my ankle twists and a spasm blasts from my foot up to my leg.
My already bad balance is completely thrown. My arms flail, there’s a pain near my elbow as it connects with the brick and my body topples back.
I close my eyes, bracing for the impact of the ground, but as fast as I was falling, I hit something and then I’m ascending. My eyes fly open and I’m greeted by the most beautiful blue eyes. But then I shiver. Those eyes are as frozen as ice.
“You have the worst luck,” he says.

It’s Razor and he’s cradling me in his arms. As my skin vibrates, there’s a part of me that agrees with his assessment. But a small dissenting voice wonders if, in this moment, I’m lucky.
